About the Role

Purpose
You will be responsible for managing the outsourcing of truck vendors, negotiating competitive rates, and designing pricing strategies for the commercial team. This role will involve responding to rate requests, expanding the in-house truck driver capacity, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions for road freight operations.

What You’ll Do
Vendor Management:
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with outsourced truck vendors.
• Negotiate rates and service agreements with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality service.
• Monitor vendor performance and implement improvement plans as needed.

Pricing Strategy:
• Develop and implement pricing strategies that align with market conditions and company goals.
• Analyze market trends, competitor rates, and customer needs to design competitive pricing models.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to develop customised pricing solutions for key accounts.

Rate Requests:
• Respond promptly to rate requests from the commercial team.
• Provide accurate and competitive pricing for various routes and shipment types.
• Ensure all pricing proposals are well-documented and align with company policies.

Capacity Expansion:
• Develop strategies to expand in-house truck driver capacity.
• Recruit and retain a skilled team of truck drivers.

Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Utilize data analytics to track pricing performance and vendor efficiency.
• Generate regular reports on pricing and vendor performance.
• Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.

Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure all pricing and procurement activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Manage risks associated with vendor relationships and pricing strategies.
• Implement best practices to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

About You   

 

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CSCMP, CIPS) is a plus.


Knowledge and Skills Needed to do the Job

  • In-depth understanding of the road freight transportation industry.

  • Knowledge of pricing strategies, procurement processes, and vendor management.

  • Familiarity with market trends and competitive dynamics in the transportation sector.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in data analysis.

  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Results-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
